Murals
The Alcoholism Center for Women had an art contest. Thirty eight (38) youth from 4 Pico Union Junior High Schools and 4 Pico Union High Schools submitted art work illustrating what prevention meant to them. We selected 4 youth art drawings to be scaled up to floor to ceiling murals. The Ahmanson Foundation paid for the art media (paint and supplies) for the project. Twenty five (25) youth participated in the project painting after school and on the weekends for 8 months. Several of the youth went to art school after the project and others were grateful to have a safe place to go to after school to learn a craft. The result is four inspiring beautiful murals. Councilman Ed Reyes and Councilwoman Jan Perry rewarded the youth with City Certificates.
The above cards are representations of the murals. If you would like to order a pack of 20 cards for $30, please call 213.381.8500 or info@acwla.org. The cards are great for the holidays or any occasion.
